Sony Ericsson K810i - Shoot and revel

Sony Ericsson’s must appreciated camera phone range has not only altered the standards of the market, but also revolutionised the way we understood the capabilities of a camera mobile. In an attempt to deliver nothing short of best, Sony Ericsson has consistently tried to push the boundaries between mobile phones and standalone digital cameras. Thus, be it the K750i’s auto focus, or K800i’s flash, Sony Ericsson has always made a special impact every time.

w810iWith such a strong pedigree there is no surprise that the next in the line- Sony Ericsson K810i is also vested with some ace ergonomics and impressive looks to maintain the hype and popularity of the genre. The main point of difference between Sony Ericsson K810i and its predecessor is the design of the handset. To begin with, the Sony Ericsson K810i comes with a glossy front section - much in sync with the contemporary shiny fashion phones. Next, the handset comes with a rather interesting keypad that features small circular silver keys. Rest of the look and the feel remains much the same. In terms of features this camera phone does not have any obvious additions to it. The Sony Ericsson K810i comes with a 3.2 MP camera - same as that of its predecessor. The camera settings are augmented with extra features as well. It comes with same auto-focus and a xenon flash. Apart from shooting still pictures, the camera software of the Sony Ericsson K810i allows you to make videos as well. One can send pictures via MMS, email or blog them to a Blogger site.

Probably the only difference in the software of the Sony Ericsson K810i is a feature called Photo Fix. In this, the camera automatically adjusts light balance, brightness and contrast. The phone also comes with a second VGA camera for video calling. Most of the other features of Sony Ericsson K810i remains pretty straight forward. There’s Bluetooth and support for A2DP), web browser, 3G connectivity and infrared, a competent MP3 player, provision an expandable Memory Stick Micro M2 slot, support for IMAP4 email accounts and POP3, an RSS feed reader, an FM radio. by carly

Motorola V8 RAZR2

Motorola V8 RAZR2

The newest member of the Motorola RAZR family promises to be just as popular as the original, with a shiny new design and even more features. The RAZR2 V8 sports a lightweight, super thin design and a stainless steel and chrome casing that gives the phone an eye-catching, glossy look. The front of the V8 features an oversized, external touch screen, measuring 2 inches, that can be used to view text messages or control the music player without opening the phone. The touch screen is easy to use and provides a small vibration open touching so you know that a key has been pressed.

Flip open the compact, clamshell RAZR2 V8 and you will find an even larger full colour display screen, measuring 2.2 inches and offering high quality resolution. The keypad is very user friendly and features the stylish, flat design common to this line of Motorola mobiles. The V8’s keypad is actually easier to use than its slide phone predecessor because the bottom row of buttons are more accessible.

The Motorola RAZR2 V8 feels quite comfortable during phone calls, but the plastic-like material used in this version’s design makes the V8 feel somewhat less sturdy than similar mobiles. For some, the shimmering new look of the RAZR may not be worth the apparent decrease in durability, but for many the V8 is too great looking to pass up.

The user interface of the RAZR2 V8 is an improvement over Motorola phones of the past. The unique and convenient touch screen offers well-designed icons that are perfectly spaced for simple use, providing one touch control for the phone’s varied media features. The 2 megapixel camera is limited on setting options, but takes acceptable quality pictures and video for messaging or viewing through the terrific and easy to use media player.

All of the V8’s music player features can be controlled directly from the external touch screen without opening the handset. The RAZR2 V8 lacks 3G technology, but it is still simple and quick to download and manage your favourite songs, ringtones, and other applications with the integrated EDGE connection. The internal speaker provides exceptional quality playback or users can listen to the music player via the optional Bluetooth stereo headphones.

The Motorola RAZR2 V8 doesn’t have an optional memory card slot, but the internal memory included provides plenty of storage space for pictures, music files, and more. Users can choose between 512 MB or an ample 2G of memory space, depending on their needs. The V8 includes most other common mobile features, including personal organization functions and all types of messaging support.

Overall, the RAZR2 V8 is a great looking, easy to use, and highly functional phone. There are a few minor drawbacks; the V8 can not be set to ring and vibrate simultaneously, for instance, and the camera could be better, but this Motorola mobile has plenty of features and a trendy, stylish design that is sure to be adored by many. If you’re looking for a simple phone with basic features and great music playback, the Motorola RAZR2 V8 is a great looking handset for the value. Martin Stellis

South Korean consumer electronics giant LG is a rather late entrant into the world of mobile phones. But surely it has generated quite a storm of late by introducing pieces of supreme technological innovations in the form of mobile phones. They come to the terms again and dishes out two separate entities of style by the name of LG Shine and LG KE 800 Chocolate.

Sony Ericsson W880i

Sony Ericsson W880i

The Sony Ericsson W880i is the slimmest Walkman phone. Its thickness of 9.4 mm is among the lowest across all category, let alone 3G phones. More fascinating is the fact that the Sony Ericsson W880i weights just a shade over 70 grams. The mono block handset sports a stainless steel casing and is available in two colour solution - a natural Steel Silver and ultra-sleek Flame Black.

The handset is fitted with a 262,144 coloured TFT screen that produces sharp and clear images across 240x320 pixels. Metal etched keypads used compliments the overall look of the phone. The Sony Ericsson W880i could easily have been marketed as a fashion phone and would have been as popular as it is now. However, Sony Ericsson decided to add glamor to the Walkman family, so installed their latest Walkman player v2.0 in it to create the unique Walkman mobile music experience. Other than 'regular' Walkman phone features like 'Mega Bass' and 'Play Now, the upgraded version of the player features an artist finding tool - the Track ID. All you have to do is send a few second's recording of a song to know about its artist, album and relevant information. The Sony Ericsson W880i supports Bluetooth wireless stereo headsets. The Sony Ericsson W880i is a dual camera phone. The primary module is a 2.0 megapixel, CMOS sensored camera mounted on the back of the handset. Shoot high resolution pictures or videos, and share them instantly with the whole world through Picture blogging or just your closed knit circle via MMS and emails. Other than the multi megapixel camera, the Sony Ericsson W880i also has a VGA camera at the top of its display. The secondary camera is fitted for the purpose of 3G video calling.

The Sony Ericsson W880i is highly stylish, has Walkman player, 3G, multi megapixel camera and a big memory pool - I wonder if there is anything left out.
