Satellite Internet Service Use With VOIP

phoneWhen you live out in the country and want high speed Internet service dial-up Internet access simply doesn’t make it. Satellite Internet access is your best option to enjoy broadband Internet access. There are two different types of satellite Internet access, one-way satellite service and two-way satellite Internet access.

A one-way satellite Internet system uses your telephone line for the upload page request. After the page request is received the satellite sends the download signal. One-way access is still a lot faster than dial-up Internet access, but aren’t you trying to get rid of dial-up and not tie up your phone line? If tying up your phone doesn’t bother you, one-way access is somewhat reliable but the companies that offer the service are not. Most of these are startup companies that are way under capitalized.

Two-way satellite Internet access has a dish mounted on your home or business that sends the upload page request signal up to the satellite. This eliminates tying up your phone line or adding additional expense for a second line. Two-way satellite Internet service works very similar to satellite TV systems. You will enjoy fast and reliable Internet service.

You may be hearing about voice over Internet phone service (VOIP). There are many advantages of voice over Internet phone service (VOIP). If you can get VOIP you can save a great deal of money on long distance, international calls and all the convenience features such as call waiting, caller ID, messaging, etc. While these VOIP phone plans such as Vonage sound pretty attractive, be careful that you have an Internet service plan that will allow VOIP to perform properly.

One-way satellite service ties up your phone line, so VOIP is out of the question. Two-way satellite access will bring you broadband Internet access but it too has its limitations when used with VOIP. The biggest concern with satellite Internet service is the latency, or lag time. This latency is a small delay from the time you send the upload signal from the dish to the satellite and then back down to you. When browsing the Internet this split second delay may not seem like much but for a phone conversation this delay is huge.

When we talk over a landline our two-way conversations go back and forth just like we are talking face to face. Latency can bring a delay into the picture and suddenly your conversations can overlay each other. Who is to talk when? Have you ever been at a baseball stadium when the national anthem is played and there is a delay in the song? This lag is very similar.

There are some companies promoting VOIP use with satellite Internet access. Be careful, it may work, but maybe not as clear and reliable as you may like. Online gaming is not recommended either because latency affects games as well. VOIP is really best suited with cable or DSL Internet access.(By Stephen Long)

Sony Ericsson K810i - Shoot and revel

Sony Ericsson’s must appreciated camera phone range has not only altered the standards of the market, but also revolutionised the way we understood the capabilities of a camera mobile. In an attempt to deliver nothing short of best, Sony Ericsson has consistently tried to push the boundaries between mobile phones and standalone digital cameras. Thus, be it the K750i’s auto focus, or K800i’s flash, Sony Ericsson has always made a special impact every time.

w810iWith such a strong pedigree there is no surprise that the next in the line- Sony Ericsson K810i is also vested with some ace ergonomics and impressive looks to maintain the hype and popularity of the genre. The main point of difference between Sony Ericsson K810i and its predecessor is the design of the handset. To begin with, the Sony Ericsson K810i comes with a glossy front section - much in sync with the contemporary shiny fashion phones. Next, the handset comes with a rather interesting keypad that features small circular silver keys. Rest of the look and the feel remains much the same. In terms of features this camera phone does not have any obvious additions to it. The Sony Ericsson K810i comes with a 3.2 MP camera - same as that of its predecessor. The camera settings are augmented with extra features as well. It comes with same auto-focus and a xenon flash. Apart from shooting still pictures, the camera software of the Sony Ericsson K810i allows you to make videos as well. One can send pictures via MMS, email or blog them to a Blogger site.

Probably the only difference in the software of the Sony Ericsson K810i is a feature called Photo Fix. In this, the camera automatically adjusts light balance, brightness and contrast. The phone also comes with a second VGA camera for video calling. Most of the other features of Sony Ericsson K810i remains pretty straight forward. There’s Bluetooth and support for A2DP), web browser, 3G connectivity and infrared, a competent MP3 player, provision an expandable Memory Stick Micro M2 slot, support for IMAP4 email accounts and POP3, an RSS feed reader, an FM radio. by carly

Motorola V8 RAZR2

Motorola V8 RAZR2

The newest member of the Motorola RAZR family promises to be just as popular as the original, with a shiny new design and even more features. The RAZR2 V8 sports a lightweight, super thin design and a stainless steel and chrome casing that gives the phone an eye-catching, glossy look. The front of the V8 features an oversized, external touch screen, measuring 2 inches, that can be used to view text messages or control the music player without opening the phone. The touch screen is easy to use and provides a small vibration open touching so you know that a key has been pressed.

Flip open the compact, clamshell RAZR2 V8 and you will find an even larger full colour display screen, measuring 2.2 inches and offering high quality resolution. The keypad is very user friendly and features the stylish, flat design common to this line of Motorola mobiles. The V8’s keypad is actually easier to use than its slide phone predecessor because the bottom row of buttons are more accessible.

The Motorola RAZR2 V8 feels quite comfortable during phone calls, but the plastic-like material used in this version’s design makes the V8 feel somewhat less sturdy than similar mobiles. For some, the shimmering new look of the RAZR may not be worth the apparent decrease in durability, but for many the V8 is too great looking to pass up.

The user interface of the RAZR2 V8 is an improvement over Motorola phones of the past. The unique and convenient touch screen offers well-designed icons that are perfectly spaced for simple use, providing one touch control for the phone’s varied media features. The 2 megapixel camera is limited on setting options, but takes acceptable quality pictures and video for messaging or viewing through the terrific and easy to use media player.

All of the V8’s music player features can be controlled directly from the external touch screen without opening the handset. The RAZR2 V8 lacks 3G technology, but it is still simple and quick to download and manage your favourite songs, ringtones, and other applications with the integrated EDGE connection. The internal speaker provides exceptional quality playback or users can listen to the music player via the optional Bluetooth stereo headphones.

The Motorola RAZR2 V8 doesn’t have an optional memory card slot, but the internal memory included provides plenty of storage space for pictures, music files, and more. Users can choose between 512 MB or an ample 2G of memory space, depending on their needs. The V8 includes most other common mobile features, including personal organization functions and all types of messaging support.

Overall, the RAZR2 V8 is a great looking, easy to use, and highly functional phone. There are a few minor drawbacks; the V8 can not be set to ring and vibrate simultaneously, for instance, and the camera could be better, but this Motorola mobile has plenty of features and a trendy, stylish design that is sure to be adored by many. If you’re looking for a simple phone with basic features and great music playback, the Motorola RAZR2 V8 is a great looking handset for the value. Martin Stellis

LG Shine or LG KE800 Chocolate

South Korean consumer electronics giant LG is a rather late entrant into the world of mobile phones. But surely it has generated quite a storm of late by introducing pieces of supreme technological innovations in the form of mobile phones. They come to the terms again and dishes out two separate entities of style by the name of LG Shine and LG KE 800 Chocolate.

Smooth sliding LG Shine shines bright by virtue of its elegant outfit. The glossy mirror-finish exterior gives way to ergonomically designed laser etched keypad embedded within the second layer. The front fascia comprises a 256K colours supporting, 2.2 inch sized TFT screen that supports images of resolution 240 x 320 pixels. There is a powerful 2.0 megpixel powerful camera lurking from the back side. The camera comes with autofocus, flash and abilities to capture video in QCIF format. Now click away with the powerful camera and never worry to store as there is a microSD memory expansion slot readily available with inbuilt 50 MB of memory availability. LG Shine come with EDGE, GPRS, Bluetooth and USB; and takes care all the data transfer and internet connectivity needs.

Come to LG KE 800 Chocolate, its a better and upgraded version of its older self. Hence expectedly customised to perform. And with a 2.0 megapixel camera that comes loaded with autofocus, 256MB of memory (instead of 128 MB in the original version), LG KE800 Chocolate certainly seems seriously upgraded to meet the demands. The phone features tri-band GSM/GPRS support, stereo Bluetooth support, FM radio and a microSD card slot. A tad larger than the predecessor, LG KE 800 comes with a TFT display producing QVGA resolution of 240x320 pixels, as well as a boosted battery life of up to 270 hours stand-by time.

Now once through with making selection of the best amongst these LG Shine or LG Chocolate, which could be either way in a given situation, the proud owner would inevitably like to go for partying hard. Because thats where he or she would get the maximum chance to flash her possession most .. and make a bunch go green with envy at a time. (by Day Kevi)
